Winemaking
Produced entirely from the 1953 harvest. The wine underwent an extraordinary aging period of 59 years in seasoned chestnut oak foudres. It attained the Rancio classification due to its extensive oxidative aging. This bottling is a result of the family tradition of preserving a portion of wine from birth years, weddings, or exceptional vintages.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Very dark mahogany, dense and nearly opaque, showing reddish and
iodized highlights. It stains the glass, displaying enormous, permanent
legs.
Nose:
High intensity, deep and concentrated. It is dominated by notes of
toasted cocoa, aged brandy, chocolate liqueur, and wine-soaked staves,
over a spicy backdrop that melds with aromatic herbs (clove, bay leaf,
olive tapenade, allspice, weaver's broom, and sage). After so many years
in the barrel, it requires significant aeration. The toasted foundation
is of unparalleled quality, featuring nuances of charcoal, burnt
coffee, cocoa, and glowing embers.
Palate:
Solidity and marked concentration, showing signs of great age yet
refreshed by vibrant acidity. It possesses a powerful structure,
high-quality bitters, and stewed black fruit. It is unlike any other
wine. An extra-aged rancio that lingers eternally on the palate with a rhythmic display of spices and toasted notes.

Tasting Notes (2012-04-02)
Appearance: Dark mahogany, opaque with reddish highlights; it stains the glass.
Nose: Medium intensity, featuring bitter cocoa over a liqueur-like backdrop of chocolate bonbons and old brandy solera.
Notes of macerated plums, black fruit jelly, clove, and black pepper.
As it opens, empyreumatic hints emerge (rubber, tire skid, tar).
Palate: Initially closed, it gradually unfolds to reveal immense concentration—it "coats the teeth" (empasta los dientes).
An amalgam of toasted notes and elegant bitters is joined by hints of
black fruit, all supported by a vibrant acidity and background
freshness. Highly lively and endowed with remarkable balance. The finish
is eternal, spiced, and tart (acidulo); it simply does not fade.
