Winemaking
The wine spent 16 months in concrete vats to complete malolactic fermentation and stabilize. It was aged for 24 to 30 months in 225-liter barrels (90% American oak, 10% French and Yugoslavian) with an average age of 15 to 16 years. Bottled in the estate’s signature frosted glass bottle. It rested for a minimum of 36 months in the winery’s subterranean cellars (calados) prior to its commercial release.

Tasting Notes
Appearance: Luminous ruby of medium body; clear and bright with a brick-colored rim.
Nose:
Medium intensity with a strong expression of classic Rioja. Abundant
notes of leather and "barnyard" are joined by ripe red fruit and an
aging profile that contributes spices, creamy toast, and vanilla. It
loses power and expression after thirty minutes of aeration. Somewhat
fatigued by time, showing hints of overripe fruit. Reminiscent of the
Faustino V 1970 Reserva.
Palate:
A polished and very rounded red with velvety tannins. Smooth, refined,
and savory, it is dominated by its aging profile, "tons" of old
wood—which masks any trace of fruit. While there are subtle piquant
notes and high-quality bitters, the ensemble lacks "punch" and vigor.
Lean, fresh, and traditional to the core. A somewhat underwhelming
experience compared to other wines from the same winery; although
pleasant to drink, it is clearly past its prime.
