Winemaking
The wine spent 12 months in vats to complete malolactic fermentation
and settle before wood aging. Depending on the vintage, it was matured
for 3 to 5 years in semi-new 225-liter American oak barrels. A minimum
of 12 months of bottle aging in the winery’s underground cellars was
completed prior to release.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright, clear reddish-ruby with medium depth, pristine. It shows amber highlights and a broad orange rim.
Nose:
Well-defined, expansive, and mature. It is filled with candied red
fruit and a liqueur-like edge that brings forth a range of macerated
sloe, pomegranate, strawberry tree fruit, sour cherries, and glacé
fruit. It shows a great expression of reduced Garnacha and herbaceous
notes (sun-dried tomato, withered flowers, petals) with a discrete
patina of wine-soaked oak in the background. Simple, of medium
intensity, discreet, and well-executed.
Palate:
The palate mirrors the profile of the nose. Very mature and
full-bodied, featuring a compelling hint of sweetness over an
overflowing abundance of spices and fruit—specifically cherries in
brandy—with a bitter, almost vegetal trace. Full on the palate, with
sufficient energy and good acidity. It continues to maintain an
acceptable level. Technically sound.
