Tasting Notes

Appearance: Bright, clear reddish-ruby with medium depth (capa); remarkably pristine with no sediment. It displays copper and pomegranate highlights. The rim is broad and orange-toned, merging almost indistinguishably with the meniscus.
Nose: Initial aromas of traditional aging, featuring prominent vanilla-scented oak, creamy nuances, and nutmeg, with a fleeting oxidative hint in the background that quickly dissipates. It settles into the signature Faustino Gran Reserva profile: orange zest, mature fruits, toasted cocoa, aged leather, and tobacco ash. While not excessively intense, it is well-defined and gains presence very gradually.

Palate: On the palate, the acidity is somewhat modest but remains sufficient for effortless drinking. It is smooth, creamy, and mature, with tannins so fine they are almost imperceptible. Balanced and well-rounded, staying true to the winery's established style. Ready to be enjoyed over the coming months. It possesses the charm of the familiar, regardless of personal preference; it remains a benchmark for Rioja year after year. Many producers could learn from the remarkable consistency this house has maintained since Julio Faustino Martínez took the helm.
