Winemaking
Grapes are selected from various plots within the "Finca El Estanque" estate. Hand-harvested in late October for the Tempranillo and early November for the Garnacha and Mazuelo. The wine underwent 32 months of aging in 225-liter American oak barrels. It rested for a minimum of 36 months in the winery’s underground cellars prior to its commercial release.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Reddish-ruby color of medium-low depth; clear and clean. It shows
brilliant orange and coppery reflections. The wide rim is fully tawny,
with almost no distinction from the meniscus.
Nose:
Medium-intensity aromas; soft and finely vanillic with a strong
presence of sweet spices (nutmeg, star anise) and a creamy-toasted touch
accompanied by morello cherries in liqueur. A certain over-ripeness in
the fruit is evident, gradually gaining prominence as it becomes more
spirituous and jammy (macerated plums, Dakhla dates, carob). It behaves
correctly but lacks depth and length.
Palate:
It shows better form on the palate. Fresh and light, with sufficient
acidity and a strong spicy sensation. There are toasted and bitter
nuances, leaning towards a balsamic character. Ready to drink now; it
should not be cellared any longer. A Gran Reserva of a more modern
concept that bears no resemblance to the historic wines of Carlos
Serres.
Commentary
This 1994 reflects the stylistic shift toward a more accessible and fruit-driven profile, diverging from the traditional "Old School" Haro style. While it captures the warmth of a legendary vintage, it lacks the structural backbone for further aging. A pleasant, straightforward Rioja that is currently at its drinking peak.
