Subsequently, it was moved to used wooden casks and progressively transferred to older barrels for a total of 10 years. The remainder of its maturation took place in the bottle prior to release. Production was limited to 22,180 bottles.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Garnet-cherry color with medium-high depth; very dark and opaque. Featuring reddish reflections with a matte finish and muted brilliance. Light sediment present at the base. Narrow, minimal orange rim, showing a sharp contrast against the meniscus.

Nose: Impeccably classical in manner, perfectly proportioned, and profoundly elegant. A delicate and noble Único—ethereal and subtle. It opens with a misty character, rooted in a bed of forest floor and earthy notes, offering the endless autumnal display of a wine in a state of grace. It continues to gain expression and weight without losing its innate finesse. It reveals almost invisible, high-quality oak with imperceptible toast, complemented by tobacco threads, leather scraps, and smoky peppers.

Palate: The wine’s pinnacle. It caresses the palate with a plush, velvety texture. So perfectly integrated that its components become a seamless whole. It gains volume with every sip, becoming more present and expansive, revealing a hidden, underlying acidity that provides remarkable grip and an extraordinary persistence. A definitive, lustrous wine in its full plenitude.

Commentary:
The 1958 Único is a colossus that cements the legendary status of the estate. It has achieved its "final alloy," a state of absolute assembly where power and delicacy coexist in perfect harmony. It is a definitive work of art from the Vega Sicilia forge, an immortal red that commands silence and respect.
