Winemaking:
Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in large neutral wooden vats, where it remained for 5 years. Subsequently, it was transferred to used wooden casks and progressively moved to older barrels for a total of 10 years of wood aging. The remainder of its maturation took place in the bottle prior to its commercial release. Production was limited to 37,000 standard bottles (75 cl) and 1,500 magnums.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Brownish-ruby color with medium depth; clear and clean. Featuring
orange and reddish reflections with a somewhat muted brilliance. Broad
coppery rim.
Nose: Upon opening, the wine appears disconcertingly closed, showing signs of fatigue and excessive reduction. Initial notes of solera,
wine-soaked staves, balsam, and flint suggest a premature aging that,
fortunately, dissipates after four hours of aeration. Once "the cobwebs
are cleared," it reveals a mature and seductive profile. A bouquet of
refined reduction (leather, smoke) accompanies a spirituous core of ripe
fruit—Turkish figs, sun-dried grapes, and apricots—backed by an
increasingly prominent botanical background of scrubland, juniper,
anise, rock tea, and fennel brine.
Palate:
Enveloping, mature, and remarkably solid. It displays the classic house
attributes: a velvety texture, roundness, and perfect equilibrium,
maintaining its vigor at all times. It is an exacting Único of slow evolution that demands attention, rewarding the taster with immense poise and elegance.
Commentary:
The 1976 Único Magnum is a singular expression that stands apart from the typical stylistic line of the estate. After a challenging start in the glass, it blossoms into a wine of profound maturity and botanical complexity. It is currently in an ideal window for consumption, offering a stately and rewarding experience, especially when paired with a world-class cigar like a Behike 54.
