Winemaking
Initial fermentation conducted in large oak vats, where the wine rested until the completion of all fermentative processes prior to racking. It underwent an aging period of 4 years in 225-liter American oak barriques, with two traditional manual rackings performed annually. Fined with fresh egg whites and bottled directly from the barrel—unfiltered. Limited production of 15,600 bottles. The wine rested for a minimum of 2 years in the winery's subterranean bottle cellar (calados) before its commercial release.

Tasting Notes (24/05/2013)
Appearance: Old gold hue with golden reflections; displays a notable sense of viscosity and "tears" on the glass.
Nose:
Soft and seamless, showing a deeply traditional character. The bouquet
reveals notes of beeswax and oriental spices—turmeric, clove, nutmeg,
and cinnamon—complemented by a core of reduced fruit that gains
prominence as the wine breathes. Complex and exceptionally elegant, it
is underpinned by a curious mineral expression reminiscent of chalk. The
wine appears remarkably stable, showing little change over the last few
years.
Palate:
Greasy, bone-dry, and rounded on the palate. Every element is perfectly
placed, further enhanced by an outstanding acidity that provides great
lift. It appears to have reached its peak, though it remains in a very
compelling window of enjoyment. Recommended for consumption within the
next two years to experience it in its full glory.

Tasting Notes (08/06/2010)
Appearance: Luminous golden-yellow hue.
Nose:
High aromatic intensity with a strong influence from its oxidative
aging (turmeric, smoky nuances) over a core of fruit jam (acacia, orange
blossom honey, quince). It displays brilliant mineral notes in the
background reminiscent of talcum powder.
Palate:
Unctuous and bone-dry on the palate; rounded and harmonious. It shows a
fruit-forward character and is fully integrated, packed with sweet
fruit nuances that are balanced by a sharp, well-defined acidity.
Currently in an ideal window for consumption.
