Winemaking
Garnacha sourced from high-altitude southern hills in Rioja Alta (Hormilla and Hormilleja). The wine spent 24 months in large oak vats to complete fermentation and stabilize before racking. It was subsequently aged for 48 months in seasoned 225-liter American oak barriques. A minimum of 24 months of bottle aging was completed in the winery’s cellars prior to its commercial release.

Tasting Notes
Appearance: Luminous reddish-ruby of medium depth; exceptionally clean and brilliant. It displays garnet and orange glints with a copper rim and fine, persistent legs that indicate high dry extract.
Nose:
High intensity and remarkable power. The bouquet is dominated by
concentrated notes of red fruit in liqueur (cherries, macerated plums),
dried apricots, and bitter orange marmalade. This fruit core is
complemented by tobacco leaf, vinous oak, and a touch of roasted cocoa.
It presents a mature and open profile, less dominated by the oxidative
"classic Rioja" patina found in other house bottlings. Reminiscent of a
Marqués de Murrieta Etiqueta Blanca, though with a more jammy and
slightly more serious character.
Palate:
Bone-dry and savory, packed with reduced fruit and supported by a
seamless acidity. It feels fresh, refined, and vigorous. The palate is
rounded, showing layers of raisins, toasted nuances, and elegant bitter
notes, leading into a persistent spicy finish. A wine of immense
enjoyment that balances finesse with generosity -a true "Burgundian"
expression of Rioja that remains remarkably vibrant despite its age.

Tasting Notes (20/2/2013):
Appearance:
Translucent brownish-ruby of medium body; clean and brilliant. It
displays a distinct tawny (tile-red) rim and fine, elegant legs.
Nose:
Initially reserved, requiring significant aeration to unfurl. It
presents no signs of negative reduction or "off" aromas. The primary
bouquet shows subtle notes of vinous oak staves, exotic woods, and sweet
spices. Upon opening, an unexpected and remarkable concentration of
stewed red fruit emerges, gaining aromatic power with hints of cola
candy, ginger, fine cabinetry, and smoked spices.
Palate:
Powerful and bone-dry, showing impressive concentration. Jammy red
fruit dominates over the oak influence, supported by a bracing, vibrant
acidity and pleasant citric nuances. It feels firm and full-bodied on
the palate, layered with soft, creamy toasted notes and a persistent
finish reminiscent of smoked spices.
