Winemaking
Grapes
sourced exclusively from estate-owned vineyards. After completing
alcoholic fermentation, the wine was racked into large wooden vats for
malolactic fermentation and stabilization for a period of 5 years. It
then underwent 10 years of aging in 225-liter oak barrels. Limited
production of 87,600 Bordeaux-style bottles and 2,200 magnums.
Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Garnet-cherry color with medium-high depth; opaque and remarkably
extracted for its age. It shows no signs of being over 50 years old.
Brilliant, with orange and reddish reflections. The rim is wide and
coppery, showing a stark contrast against the meniscus.
Nose:
Of telluric depth, creating a literal seismic shift in the glass. This
is one of those wines that justifies everything, transcending debates
over price or comparison; it sits above perfection. Stratospheric and
ethereal elegance—it never touches the ground. It offers an aristocratic
bouquet of a smoking room: cigar humidor, noble woods, leather
armchairs, and a spectacular backdrop of liqueur-like fruit more typical
of old Porto Colheitas. A light mist of spices—cloves, nutmeg—fuses
with a hint of smoke. Of a purity and finesse difficult to imagine.
Palate:
Fresh and firm on the palate, filled with ripe yet fresh red fruit and
lightly spiced. Remarkable poise and youth. Everything is perfectly
interlinked and in absolute order, showcasing a vivid, vibrant profile
with abundant acidity. The most impressive aspect is that it still has
many years ahead to take that final step toward wine nirvana.
