Winemaking:
Grapes sourced from poor limestone terraces of clay-calcareous nature, originating from the Quaternary period. Manual harvest in 20 kg crates from early October to early November, with selection both in the vineyard and on a sorting table at the winery. Fermentation took place in cement and stainless steel vats. The wine matured for 36 months in American and French oak barrels (mostly 225L), with two manual rackings per year. Aged for a minimum of 3 years in the bottle within the winery's cellars before its commercial release.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Brownish-ruby color with medium-low depth; remarkably clear and
translucent. Significant sediment at the base, suggesting it was likely
unfiltered. Vivid coppery reflections. Broad, tile-colored rim with subtle differentiation from the interior of the meniscus.
Nose:
Highly evolved tertiary profile, showing extreme maturity. It initially
appears to be fading, revealing notes of lacquer, antique shops, and
sacristy incense, alongside a disconcerting, fleeting hint of nut husks.
It requires profound aeration; after two hours, it recovers
significantly. Fragrant black fruit emerges alongside smoky spices,
giving way to a display of classic aging hallmarks: cedar, leather,
jute, dried apricots, blonde tobacco, coffee beans, and humus.
Palate:
Mature yet light on the palate, featuring a touch of sweetness and
toasted notes (caramelized sugar) balanced by more than adequate
acidity. Overall, it feels somewhat lean and fragile, lacking
significant weight, with tannins that are almost entirely melted. While
it lacks "punch" or drive, it maintains a correct stance.
Commentary:
An aging Gran Reserva that appears to be entering its final stretch. While the nose eventually blossoms with air, the palate struggles to maintain the structure expected from such a distinguished label. It is a fragile survivor from 1985 that demands immediate consumption and a very patient decanting process to show its remaining virtues.
