Tasting Notes
Appearance: Brilliant brownish-ruby of medium body; clean with a brick-colored rim.
Nose:
A textbook example of classical craftsmanship and total harmony. It
shows good intensity, refinement, and elegance. Complex aromas of
extensive aging emerge: vanilla, sage, creamy undertones, antique
furniture, fine cabinetry, smoked spices, and leaf litter. It is
seemingly endless. With time, it reveals hints of red fruit compote and
high-quality vegetal accents. It continuously gains power as it
breathes, showing no signs of fatigue. Perfectly rounded.
Palate:
Surprising in its elegance and breadth. Vigorous and filled with firm
tannins that feel absolutely integrated. A hint of sweetness serves as a
foundation for a sparkling acidity—very much in line with the great
1964s—with a medium-bodied texture that provides freshness and
lightness. Intense, slightly spirited,
concentrated, and savory; remarkably pure. A red that expresses the
very best of Bodegas Franco-Españolas in a sensational vintage. It truly
deserves its name.
